Commercial pollination is a major and growing sector of the beekeeping industry. Bees help boost productivity of all crops in the horticulture industry. Access to forest areas is of vital importance to build the strength of hives for pollination. This is why the QBA is committed to maintaining access to native forests for the benefit of beekeepers, horticulture and the wider community.

Honey extracting plants are all different and made to suite the needs of the individual beekeeping business.

80% of all honey produced in Queensland comes from government controlled native forest areas. The Queensland government has now acted to have all managed hives out of native forests after the year 2024.

Most Beekeeping businesses are family run and operated.
